Valeri Fabrikant, CLC - The Truth Lurks In Dark Places

Valeri Fabrikant was a drone/noise collective from Montreal, Canada active from 2010 up to 2018 and as of now, disbanded. Formed of Kenney Laflamme on guitars and bass and Maxime Cayer on Bass & Guitars as a core constant duo. They have released 6 albums along with 7 extended plays and singles and 2 compilation records. All this, with a revolving cast of characters and guests, collaboratives records, remixes, jam sessions and live records. All released on their own imprint, GBS Records. The group spawned many side projects, The Band Of Peace, Drub, DieARiot, La Diharee and another collective, Marecage. GBS records was mostly centred around those project in the very early days and Valeri Fabrikant was the flagship band of the label back then. "There was a time in mid to late 90s when it seemed like Montreal was the centre of the musical universe, beneath the safe haven of Constellation records the likes of godspeed and fly pam am where left to nurture their post rock atmospherique. Some two decades down the line, its seems as though Valeri Fabrikant have keenly been influenced, influenced enough in fact to embrace that same spirit. The collective provides for a masterclass in both refrain / sustain and poise / pause, theres a dark beauty evolving and dissolving here amid a panoramic canvas populated by the sparse drone detailing and squirrelling scrapes, while likewise serving upon something carved with such stilled grandeur one suspects closer inspection might well be rewarded several fold."
