Review by Alan Biggers

Tom Adams' latest album, Adams County Banjo, is a delightful collection of traditional and original banjo tunes that showcases his virtuosic playing and deep respect for the instrument's history. From the opening track, "Black Mountain Rag," to the closing number, "The Last Thing on My Mind," Adams' banjo sings with clarity and precision, backed by a tight ensemble of musicians.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "The Old Home Place," a classic bluegrass tune that Adams imbues with a sense of nostalgia and longing. His banjo solos are both intricate and soulful, taking the listener on a journey through the song's emotional landscape. Another standout track is "Bluegrass Breakdown," an original composition that showcases Adams' technical prowess and his ability to craft a memorable melody.

Throughout the album, Adams pays tribute to the pioneers of banjo music, while also pushing the boundaries of the genre with his own unique voice. Whether he's playing a traditional tune like "Cripple Creek" or a more contemporary piece like "The Road to Malvern," Adams' banjo is always in the forefront, leading the way with its distinctive twang and rhythmic drive.
