The Klezmer Conservatory Band's album Dance me to the end of love is a delightful collection of traditional Jewish music infused with modern influences. The band's expert musicianship is evident in their lively performances of songs like "Tumbalalaika" and "Bei Mir Bistu Shein," which are sure to get listeners up and dancing.

The album also showcases the band's versatility, with slower, more melancholic tracks like "Tango Tzigane" and "Bublitchki" adding depth and emotional resonance to the overall sound. The use of accordion, clarinet, and violin throughout the album gives it a distinctly Eastern European feel, while the addition of percussion and electric guitar bring a contemporary edge.

The Holocaust interpretation is valid and important, but I feel this song as a general exploration of love, with all of its inescapable power, inexpressible awe, and sweet danger. And of course its sadness, since the dance of love will end.

So much better than Leonard Cohen's bland voiced version.

The song is about the string quartet who were forced to play beside the crematoriums in the death camps. The members of the quartet were going to be killed later in the crematorium but were allowed to play music first, before being killed. This playing of music is joy and happiness to the members of the quartet, the last piece of love and joy they will experience before their end. It explains something, anything, that seems strong or eternal. Even love, has an end.
